Nazar
Shabila has MSc degree in Public Health in Developing Countries from the London
School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and PhD in Community Medicine
from Hawler Medical University. He is a professor of community
medicine. He is currently the President and Vice Chancellor of the Catholic University in
Erbil. He teaches different courses, including
epidemiology of communicable diseases, health economics, biostatistics, health
information, and demography. He has more than 80 publications. His
current research is mainly related to health services research, women’s health,
conflict and health, and medical education. He has extensive higher education
management experience, as he worked as the vice president for scientific
affairs and postgraduate studies at Hawler Medical University for
around 5 years. Before pursuing his academic career, he established seven years
of experience in the humanitarian relief field through working with the ICRC
and UNOPS-IDPs Project on addressing the needs of internally displaced people.
