Yousif Hamid serves as an Assistant Lecturer in the
Department of International Relations at the Catholic University in Erbil.
Prior to his appointment at CUE in September 2024, he held the position of
Resettlement Project Manager at Refugee Action in the United Kingdom. Yousif
earned his Master’s degree in Governance and Public Policy from the University
of Sheffield, where he investigated the interplay between energy independence,
specifically petroleum revenues, and the governmentality of public policies in
the Kurdistan Region of Iraq since 2003. Before pursuing his Master’s research,
he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Politics from
the University of Sheffield (2011-2014) and a Diploma Certificate in Humanities
and Social Science from Sheffield College (2009-2011).
